Premenstrual syndrome or PMS is the variation of physical and mood symptoms that appear during the last one or two weeks of the menstrual cycle and disappear by the end of the full flow the period. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder or PMDD is a specific set of mood symptoms that are also present the week before the period and lessen a few days after the start of the period. Most doctors and professionals believe that PMS and PMDD are basically the same thing, except that PMDD is more severe, because of its interference with daily activities.
