Executive Summary
Advancements in human resources related technology have been changing the way this department operates. Employing new, faster ways to perform traditional functions, new technologies have allowed for HR workers to allocate more time towards strategic planning. While downsides to these developments do exist, they are overshadowed by the many benefits and increased proficiency they allow for.
One such technology is computer-assisted interviewing. By using a telephone network or computerized testing procedure to question applicants about pertinent information, unfavorable candidates can quickly be screened out from favorable ones based on their responses. Best of all, the computer does all the work, leaving the time an associate once would have spent performing this task manually to spend doing other tasks.
Aside from computer-assisted interviewing, employee self-service applications are helping to cut time and increase proficiency as well. Usually implemented via telephone network or internet-based platform, employees can now find, review, and alter their own information without having to go through the human resources department. This saves all parties involved both time and paperwork.
