Extract

After the tragedy president of Latvia Andris Berzins said that there should be changed as building standards as political system in Latvia. He added that it is necessary to change the system of executive because all its participants are irresponsible and refuse to respond for anything (President: murder of defenseless people). Some people left their posts because of tragedy; the most shining example was the prime minister of Latvia Valdis Dombrovskis, who resigned himself after President speech. The collapse “deleted” the weakest participants in Parliament and Riga’s Council, and it definitely made the power of Latvia better. A lot of incompetent people have ruled the country during the years. Unfortunately, only in the moment of tragedy it is possible to find weak point in the power of country.
The disaster in Zolitude was definitely the most awful tragedy in the independent Latvian history. We all must do everything to prevent the similar tragedy in the future. The society in Latvia should be united not only during the tragedy time but always, and if somebody sees something which could be dangerous for people life (e.g. crack in the ceiling, a lot of snow in the roof) he shouldn’t think that it is not his problem, he must inform the rescue services about it. In turn the government should control the quality of buildings and qualification of companies who does it.
