The factor that causes addiction (if marihuana is smoked), is the process of smoking, but still it is easy to quit. The person only has to change the smoking process with another process such as chewing a gum. Only 9% of marijuana users become addicted to it while for alcohol 15% face addiction (Brody, J.E. (n. d)).
To sum up the main reasons why alcohol should be considered more dangerous than marijuana are that an alcoholic is more likely to become violent than marijuana user, because of changes in feelings that these narcotics create. It is very easy to become addicted to alcohol, if it is used regularly, while for marijuana it is unlikely. And last but not least regular drinking causes more severe health problems. Every one of these factors proves the harmfulness of alcohol, but still it cannot be said that marijuana is not dangerous at all, despite its merits it can be addictive and, if it is not used properly, it can cause some health issues. However, it is clear which of these drugs is more dangerous.
