In the early 1990's, interactive TV was gaining tremendous fame. Sun Microsystems decided that interactive TV needed a special, portable, language. Java eventually became this special language. However, in 1994, the Java development team changed their focus to the web, which was becoming 'the cool thing' after the failure of interactive TV. The next year, Netscape licensed Java for use in their 'Internet' browser, Navigator. At this point, Java was there to stay. However, Java too wasn't perfect and had a problem. It was too slow.
It can be concluded that programming languages have been being developed throughout history even till today, and this process will continue for several more years to ahead. It got its start from a mere writing of instructions and evolved to such an extent that they are used for countless purposes. With such advancements already, maybe the future programmes will create another dimension; another world.
