A lie is a statement that swerves form the truth or modifies it to suit a particular situation or purpose. Everyone has lied and been caught at it at least once in their lives, in fact, not telling the truth has become habitual for many and they tend to deviate from the truth without even realizing it. Three main groups of lies can be distinguished according to their purpose, the harm they may cause and the level of disguise.
