Even though the subjects at a university may be easy to study, the degree shows other skills that often are more valuable than the degree itself. Nearly all university programs require an internship; practical skills can be acquired outside of the classroom and still be applied for the degree. This leads to the thinking that the relation of theory and applicable knowledge is balanced. Although trying out one’s hand in different careers may seem a positive thing to do, there is another side to it – young people might not see the forest through the trees; a short-term thinking then takes over and the ones who could have acquired a university degree and gotten a better job could find themselves regretting the thought about degrees being too theoretical. …
