It is also beneficial to represent the relationship between Jimmy and the company with the paternalism model. Jimmy is the parent in this situation as he has all the information. The company can be seen as the child as it does not have all the facts and is being deceived, and therefore cannot be expected to make its own decisions and is dependent on Jimmy to promote its best interests. I feel that Jimmy would be acting in the best interests of the company if he exposed Jerry's transgressions.
Kantianism is a branch of Deontological ethics that states the rightness or wrongness of actions depends on whether they correspond to our duty or not. To refer to W.D. Ross's seven rules Jimmy has a duty of Fidelity and Beneficence which should both determine his decision. He knows what Jerry is doing is wrong and he has a duty to report these wrongdoings - there is no decision to be made, according to Kantianism, this is what he must do.
A key point to keep in mind is that Jimmy is afraid he will be exposed to the prevailing bullying culture of victimizing whistleblowers. Whistleblowers perform valuable and essential public service. Without them, much corruption and impropriety would go undetected. If Jimmy does not feel he is able to come forward and be open about the situation, it is the company's shortcomings and not his own.
