The Ligo Day and the Day of Janis are national holidays is Latvia. They are celebrated on the 23rd and 24th of June. They are out of doors holidays. People make fires, sing songs (Latvian folk songs), make oak wreaths, drink beer and eat cheese. Young people jump over the fires and look for the forn flower, which according to an old Latvian legend blossoms only during the Ligo night.
On the 18th of November we celebrate Day of the Proclamation of the Latvian Republic.
