Farley Mowat is Canada's most wildly read author with his books focusing mainly on the northern regions of Canada. Mowat was born in Belleville, Ontario on May 12, 1921. He is the son of a librarian that was constantly moving his family around.
It was his Ornithologist uncle that took him on a trip to the Arctic at the age of 14 that changed his life. He fell in love with the north and the way of life that surrounds it. This is why most of his books are set in this harsh world.
