Plant diseases are predicted to be more harmful for crop plants. And also soil salinization, because of sea level rise. Is expected more drastic seasonal variation, powerful storms and with it torrential rains, floods and soil erosion. Whole this will decrease crop productivity.
To change something and try to increase crop productivity, farmers can make better use of water, which is available, and with it change crop rotation, or change crops periodically. Adjust sowing dates based on information about temperature and rainfall patterns. Use crop varieties, which are more better suitable to the new climate conditions. Or try to use genetically modified crop species, which is more resistant to climate changes, or use hybrid crops.
Or to anyway, climate changes in nowadays is big challenge for scientists, and there is lot of work to do how increase crop production.
