Education in Latvia

Latvia is a small country in north-eastern Europe on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Country is marked by lowland plains, rolling hills and thousands of rivers and lakes. Education system is administered at three levels - national, municipal and institutional. 5-7 year old children have to participate in pre-school programmes provided by general education establishments or kindergartens as a part of the compulsory basic education.
