"The Stolen Generations"- Australian Aboriginal Children

On 27th May 1997 the report 'Bringing them Home' was released. It is a report of the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from Their Families. The report is a tribute to the strength and struggles of many thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people affected by forcible removal. The Report made 54 recommendations, including opening of records, family tracing and reunion services and the need for reparations'. The Government increased some funding but has refused to apologize or offer compensation. People of the stolen generation have started legal actions for compensation against the Government.…
