In contrary to the beginning of 20th century when they were among world industrial leaders with modern equipment, the Russian federation has today the task to incredibly modernize its production of goods as soon as possible, at least to own a better notoriety over the world.
However (though the state's presence and protectionism on economy was incredibly high in the past), the actual privatization doesn't stop increasing, to the profit of private and foreign investments. It leads then to a good outlook for a quick modernization of light and heavy industries in Russia, even if many laws in juridical and fiscal fields remain for the moment quite incomplete and inefficient.
Concerning agriculture, of course, conditions of peasants are really better than in the past. But the agrarian reform of 90's was too confused, and didn't really brought a solution to millions of farmers within the country, in terms of ownership. Fortunately, the number of farmers tends to decrease a lot thanks to the service's sector that brought many jobs to Russia the last few years.
