Putting one’s thoughts on paper can be very challenging to some. Fortunately, unlike creative writing, academic writing can be learnt, and it is a pre-eminent skill to acquire in order to succeed in studies. There are many different types of academic papers that are required in the university. Two of the most common types of academic writing – essay and report – are very similar, yet their purpose and arrangement differ greatly.
An essay and a report are alike because of various factors. The first feature that all academic writings have in common is the fact that only reliable sources are used. This also means that both an essay and a report must have proper citations to avoid plagiarism.
