1.Modernism – (from Latin ‘modo’ – ‘now’), industrial era, innovation. It was a reaction against realism and romanticism, belief in the virtues of science, technology, etc.

2.Modernity – period in Europe from 16th C – early 17th C  20th C; characterized by the growth and strengthening of a specific set of social practices and ways of doing things – nation building, democracy, institutions, schooling system, etc.

3.Industrial modernism – functionalism, universal design, homogeneity – composed of parts or elements that are all of the same kind - ethnic nation - state.

4.In modernism period there were experimental styles of visual art, literature, music. Modernist works are often called avant-garde or unconventional art.…
