According to theory of plate tectonics the Globe is covered with dozen lithosphere plates, known also as tectonic plates. These plates are being moved by Earth’s internal heat. Hot and weak part of lithosphere- asthenosphere ensures these movements, both destructive and constructive plate movement.
In this essay destructive plate margins or convergent plate boundaries are described with appropriate examples of geological products made and processes caused.
Convergent plate boundaries form in places where tectonic plates come together and cause subduction1. There are three possible types of convergent plate boundaries: ocean- ocean, ocean- continent and continent- continent convergence. (Grotzinger J, Jordan T: 2010)
