Wildlife
The fauna is diverse. The Everglades is home to 275 fish species and many birds come here from the south and north latitudes .
The best-known animal in the Everglades is the alligator, which was almost completely exterminated.
By now, however, it has multiplied so much that its hunting has been re-authorized.

Plants
Here you can find various tropical species, mahogany, bromeliads, orchids, ferns, mangroves and swamp cypresses.
Ten palm species are native to the area.
