People who support a point of view of allowing students use Google or other search engines in examination should remember that, for ability to choose an appropriate source of information, as Jeffrey pointed out in her article, students should have basic knowledge on a particular topic they are studying. Although, in this case the exams should be prepared wisely to avoid regurgitating the source found on Internet but in order to evaluate actual student’s ability to work with this source.
Besides the above mentioned, as from the studies of the University College, London, in 2006, appeared, human brains develop mentally and change their structure when people memorize great amount of information, allowing to use the search engines in examination could cause poor psychological development in future and lack of logical thinking. With no logical thinking there also will not be any further progress in terms of society, technology and humanity as well.
A common solution for this ambiguous topic could be a well-considered balance between memorizing the information needed to have a main recognition of the field of study and meeting the 21st century student’s needs and benefits of a fast and easy acquisition of the necessary data online.
