The text definitely is not ambiguous – it is a very clear, non-fiction article. When speaking of imagery, the author’s description of how children are dressed on Halloween is quite detailed, but the first paragraph is also the only one that includes this kind of description. The mentioned stereotypes are actually true in this case and are supported by historical facts about the origin of zombies. The semantic fields of this text are zombie and slavery that overlap. The semantic field of slavery includes such words as pain, suicide, control, plantation, master, Africa and zombie which represents another semantic field which includes words like Voodoo, religion, Baron Samedi, salt, death, Hollywood, Halloween and, of course, slavery. Zombie is a part of the African culture context but its image is being used all over the world without the knowledge of its origin and true meaning.
