English is language with long and complex history. It is one of the West- Germanic languages in common with Dutch, German and Aafricans. English rose from Anglo-Frisian dialects brought to the British Isles by Germanic tribes, who sailed across the North Sea in the middle of 5th century. This was a complicated period in the course of Britain’s history and it is time and time again reflected in books, films and elsewhere.
I think that most recognisable character from history of Great Britain is King Arthur- great mythical warrior, a noble knight, who fought for truth and justice. Actually his existence has never been proven, but still there are plenty of films and books about King Arthur and the knights of a round table. However they are not just stories about great fights and victory of good over evil, they are stories about long past days comprising history of English language as well. …
